IMPRESSIONS
AN INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION THAT TAKES YOU BEHIND THE DOORS OF HIGHLAND PRINT STUDIO AND INTO THE WORLD OF PRINTMAKING. SEE THE PROCESS, THE TOOLS AND THE JOURNEY TO THE FINAL PRINT.
In October 2025, I was delighted to be invited to exhibit work in IMPRESSIONS at Highland Print Studio — an exhibition exploring printmaking from process to final print.
I exhibited two wildlife images from my ongoing fine art project Wildlight. The first was a black-and-white image of two red kites, printed on Hahnemühle Baryta FB Gloss 350gsm. This square-format print was displayed along the staircase, hanging among a wide range of works that showcased the diversity of processes and artists involved in the exhibition.
The second piece was a large-scale print of my owl image — the largest I have ever printed one of my photographs. Printed on Paper Graphics Fine Art Smooth 320gsm, it was displayed prominently above the drying rack on the ground floor, visible as soon as visitors entered the building. Seeing the work presented at that scale and within such a thoughtfully curated space was incredibly special.
IMPRESSIONS offered visitors a rare opportunity to look behind the scenes of printmaking, presenting not only finished works but also the tools, plates, and processes involved in their creation. The exhibition reflected Highland Print Studio’s long-standing ethos of openness, education, and community, celebrating both technical skill and creative exploration.
It was a real honour to be part of this exhibition — particularly with a studio I trust deeply and regularly use to print my own exhibition work. The care, quality, and attention they bring to printing and presentation continually impress me, and I was genuinely amazed by how beautifully my images were produced and displayed.
Being part of IMPRESSIONS was a meaningful experience, and one I’m extremely proud to have been involved in.
