IN DEFENCE OF SINGLE IMAGE
This exhibition is a quiet challenge to the convention of producing a series of photographs and a reminder of the potential of the single image. Putting one picture next to another picture creates a third ‘something’. Each image contributes to a larger narrative or thematic arc. The meaning emerges relationally. The single image stands alone, its meaning is contained within its own composition, formal qualities and content.
Shona has chosen to exhibit a black-and-white abstract photograph depicting two Red Kites chasing each other across the sky. The image is part of her ongoing fine art project Wildlight, a black-and-white body of work with several subprojects in development. This particular photograph belongs to Flightlines, a subproject that is yet to be published. The final print was produced at Highland Print Studio.
Prints are available for purchase at £80 each (unframed). For framing enquiries, please contact Shona directly.
